THE BEACHES OF ALTAFULLA
Altafulla is a quiet village of medieval origin in Tarragona area. Close to the cities of Tarragona and Torredembarra. In it flows the river Gaià.
On the old town, we find the ancient city known as the “Vila Closa” with remains of ancient walls, the castle of Altafulla and the church of Sant Martí.
Downtown, near the sea, we highlight the old roman city (Vila Romana dels Munts), the sea front known as “Les Botigues de Mar ” and the beaches of Altafulla and Canyadell.
THE ROMAN VILLA DELS MUNTS
The Roman Villa dels Munts was the residence of a high official of the Tarraco’s administration (Calius Valeriys Avitus and his wife Faustina). These remains were declared World heritage of UNESCO and are very close to the beach.
THE BEACH OF ALTAFULLA
Beach of good quality with fine golden sand. With the peculiar seafront known as ” Les Botigues de Mar”.
It is a long beach about 1,000m long ideal for children, with shallow water. It has surveillance service and showers.
Also in the same sea front there are some bars and restaurants. And on the back of the sea front is the part of the village more close to the beach.
Shortly after the nautical club it begins the beach of Tamarit with the mouth of the river Gaià.
You can get there walking from the beach of Altafulla.
We love to walk along the seashore until it gets dark and the sea front is illuminated.
COVE OF CANYADELL
Cove of fine sand surrounded by rocks and vegetation.
Although it’s close to an urbanization, the rocks and the wooded area that surround the beach give the feeling of a virgin beach.
You can get there walking on some wooden walkways.
Services: life guards and beach bar.
