SKIING IN LES SYBELLES –LA TOUSSUIRE- FRENCH ALPS
How to get there:
From Barcelona it was about 9 hours by car, with a couple of stops included. Almost all the route by highway. After the highway, on the way to La Toussuire you will go by the Col de la Croix de Fer, a usually village of the Tour de France.
Les Sybelles is a ski area of 310km of alpin ski and 33km of cross-country skiing. Located in the French Apls.It includes 6 ski resorts perfectly connected.
-Les Bottieres, -Le Corbier, -La Toussuire, -St Colomban des Villards,
St Jean d’ Arves i St Sorlin d’ Arves.
The icon of these tracks are the mountains Les Aiguilles d ‘Arves, which dominate the valley of l’Arvan between the Frenc Savoie and the Hautes-Alpes. The highest peak is the meridional with 3514m.
You can find snow in profusion and sunshine throughout the ski area. An incredible alpine landscape with many activities of snow, not forgetting the routes dedicated to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
The most beautiful and typical villages were St Colomban des Villards, St Jean d ‘Arves and St Sorlin d’ Arves, whereas Le Corbier, Les Bottieres and la Toussuire were more tourist with more apartment blocks. Especially le Corbier, it was the least typical town.
Minimum height 1,100m. Maximum height 2,620m. Gradient 1,520m.
310km of slopes with good quality snow, many lifts, no queues and tracks of all level tracks:
30 green slopes, 61 blue, 46 red y 12 black, 6 cross-country skiing, 11 snowshoeing routes.
Is not necessary having a very good ski level to reach the more emblematick peaks, L ‘Ouillon (2431) and Les Perrons (2620), because also the blue slopes are arriving to its.
We skied without queues during the four days we were there and practically did not repeat any slope.
One of the areas that most liked the children was the Park de la Toussuire-Les Bottières.
By the chairlifts was an informative panel to which tracks you would access.
Pedestrians and people on snowshoes had several routes, separate from the ski slopes.
On occasions they coincide or cross with the ski slopes.
Typical image of the resort Le Corbier.
We stayed on a wood ground floor in the Toussuire. It was very comfortable, right next to the ski slopes.
We really left the house with skis on.
It had a pre-entry where you could take off your ski boots.
We had lunch in the same house. In the morning before start sking we lend the meal prepared, so we came back to the house to eat and then continued skiing until the resort closed.
We lend the car parked the first day and we did not need it until we come back.
In the same village there are several shops and places to rent material.
After skiing we use tohave awalk around the village. There was some clothing store and ski equipment, supermarket with typical products of the area and a bowling alley where the visit was obligatory.
There were also several restaurants, we loved the fondue and the raclette.
We spent five great days, we skied a lot. Being right next to the ski slopes was really comfortable.
